1968 FFE All-Pro Team

Along with naming a Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player winner for each season starting in 1963, I also wanted to recognize the other outstanding players from each individual season. Each All-Pro Team (1st and 2nd Team) will have one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers and one tight end. Here is the 1968 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia All-Pro Team. Fantasy points are shown in ( ). 

First Team All-Pro

Quarterback

Daryle Lamonica, Oakland Raiders (265.60)

Lamonica played in 13 games (started 13 games) and had 3,245 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns with 15 interceptions. He also had 98 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown.

Running Back

Leroy Kelly, RB, Cleveland Browns (302.96)

Kelly played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 1,239 rushing yards (NFL league leader) and 16 rushing touchdowns (NFL league leader). He also had 22 receptions for 297 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 34 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown. Kelly was the 1968 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year and the 1968 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Most Valuable Player.

Bill Brown, Minnesota Vikings (228.52)

Brown played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 805 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He also had 31 receptions for 329 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 3 passing yards.

Wide Receiver

Lance Alworth, San Diego Chargers (263.00)

Alworth played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 68 receptions (AFL league leader) for 1,312 receiving yards (AFL league leader) and 10 receiving touchdowns. He also had 18 rushing yards. Additionally, he had 1 2-point conversion.

Don Maynard, New York Jets (246.70)

Maynard played in 13 games (started 13 games) and had 57 receptions for 1,297 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.

Roy Jefferson, Pittsburgh Steelers (243.10)

Jefferson played in 14 games (started 13 games) and had 58 receptions for 1,074 receiving yards (NFL league leader) and 11 receiving touchdowns. He also had 57 rushing yards. Additionally, he had 1 punt return touchdown.

Tight End

Jackie Smith, St. Louis Cardinals (174.20)

Smith played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 49 receptions for 789 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. He also had 163 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.

Second Team All-Pro

Quarterback

Fran Tarkenton, New York Giants (252.30)

Tarkenton played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 2,555 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns with 12 interceptions. He also had 301 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.

Running Back

Ken Willard, San Francisco 49ers (197.90)

Willard played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 967 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. He also had 36 receptions for 232 receiving yards.

Paul Robinson (Rookie), Cincinnati Bengals (193.10)


Robinson played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 1,023 rushing yards (AFL league leader) and 8 rushing touchdowns (AFL league leader). He also had 24 receptions for 128 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown. Robinson was the 1968 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Rookie of the Year

Gary Garrison, San Diego Chargers (222.30)

Garrison played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 52 receptions for 1,103 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.

Tight End

Jim Whalen, Boston Patriots (160.80)

Whalen played in 14 games (started 13 games) and had 47 receptions for 718 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns.
