1963 FFE All-Pro Team

Along with naming a Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player winner for each season starting in 1963, I also wanted to recognize the other outstanding players from each individual season. Each All-Pro Team (1st and 2nd Team) will have one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers and one tight end. Here is the 1963 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia All-Pro Team


First Team All-Pro

Quarterback

Y.A. Tittle, New York Giants (335.70 fantasy points)

Tittle played in 13 games (started 13 games) and had 3,145 passing yards and 36 passing touchdowns (NFL league leader) with 14 interceptions. He also had 99 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Tittle was the 1963 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year.

Running Back

Jim Brown, Cleveland Browns (327.10 fantasy points)

Brown played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 1,863 rushing yards (NFL league leader) and 12 rushing touchdowns (NFL league leader). He also had 24 receptions for 268 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. 

Clem Daniels, Oakland Raiders (256.80 fantasy points)

Daniels played in 14 games (started 13 games) and had 1,099 rushing yards (AFL league leader) and 3 rushing touchdowns. He also had 30 receptions for 685 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. 

Wide Receiver

Art Powell, Oakland Raiders (299.40 fantasy points)

Powell played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 73 receptions for 1,304 receiving yards (AFL league leader) and 16 receiving touchdowns (AFL league leader). Powell was the 1963 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Most Valuable Player.

Bobby Mitchell, Washington Redskins (257.00 fantasy points)

Mitchell played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 69 receptions for 1,436 receiving yards (NFL league leader) and 11 receiving touchdowns. He also had 24 rushing yards. Additionally he had 1 kick return touchdown. 

Terry Barr, Detroit Lions (253.50 fantasy points)

Barr played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 66 receptions for 1,086 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns (NFL league leader). He also had 9 rushing yards.

Tight End

Mike Ditka, Chicago Bears (186.40 fantasy points)

Ditka played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 59 receptions for 794 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns.

Quarterback

George Blanda, Houston Oilers (280.22 fantasy points)

Blanda played in 14 games (started 13 games) and had 3,003 passing yards (AFL league leader) and 24 passing touchdowns with 25 interceptions (AFL league leader). He also had 1 rushing yard. Additionally, he made 9 field goals and 39 extra points. 

Running Back

Timmy Brown, Philadelphia Eagles (233.24 fantasy points)

Brown played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 841 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. He also had 36 receptions for 487 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 1 kick return touchdown.

Cookie Gilchrist, Buffalo Bills (228.40 fantasy points)

Gilchrist played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 979 rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns (AFL league leader). He also had 24 receptions for 211 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 35 passing yards.

Lionel Taylor, Denver Broncos (248.10 fantasy points)

Taylor played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 78 receptions (AFL league leader) for 1,101 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. 

Buddy Dial, Pittsburgh Steelers (243.50 fantasy points)

Dial played in 14 games (started 13 games) and had 60 receptions for 1,295 receiving yards and 9 receiving touchdowns. 

Tight End

Pete Retzlaff, Philadelphia Eagles (170.50 fantasy points)

Retzlaff played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 57 receptions for 895 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns.
