1963 FFE Player of the Year: Y.A. Tittle

Starting with the 1963 football season (AFL and NFL combined), I will recognize the top scoring player as that seasons Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year. This award will be based on total fantasy points scored that season.

The first Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year is New York Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle.

College: Louisiana State University (LSU)

Drafted: San Francisco 49ers in the 1st round (3rd overall) of the 1951 National Football League (NFL) Draft, Detroit Lions in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 1948 NFL Draft.

In the 1963 season, Tittle scored 335.70 fantasy points for the New York Giants. He played in 13 games with 3,145 passing yards and 36 passing touchdowns (NFL league leader) with 14 interceptions. He also had 99 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. His best game of the season was a 37.06 fantasy point performance in Week 6 (see Game by Game Breakdown for details).

In 1963, Tittle won the NFL Associated Press (AP) Most Valuable Player (MVP), NFL Newspaper Enterprise Association MVP and NFL Sporting News Player of the Year. He was also selected to the NFL Pro Bowl and was named First Team All-Pro.
