Drafted: San Francisco 49ers in the 1st round (8th overall) of the 1962 National Football League (NFL) Draft, Oakland Raiders in the 2nd round (9th overall) of the 1962 American Football League (AFL) Draft.

In the 1965 season, Alworth scored 312.00 fantasy points with a Relative Fantasy Value (RFV) of 237.60 for the San Diego Chargers. He played in 14 games with 69 receptions for 1,602 receiving yards (AFL league leader) and 14 receiving touchdowns (AFL league leader). He also had -12 rushing yards. His best game of the season was a 36.80 fantasy point performance in Week 5 (see Game by Game Breakdown for details).
