Along with naming a Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player winner for each season starting in 1963, I also wanted to recognize the other outstanding players from each individual season. Each All-Pro Team (1st and 2nd Team) will have one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers and one tight end. Here is the 1965 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia All-Pro Team.
Quarterback
John Brodie, San Francisco 49ers (284.48 fantasy points)
Brodie played in 13 games (started 13 games) and had 3,112 passing yards (NFL league leader) and 30 passing touchdowns (NFL league leader) with 16 interceptions. He also had 60 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown.
Running Back
Jim Brown, Cleveland Browns (354.76 fantasy points)
Brown played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 1,544 rushing yards (NFL league leader) and 17 rushing touchdowns (NFL league leader). He also had 34 receptions for 328 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 39 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown. Brown was the 1965 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year.
Gale Sayers (Rookie), Chicago Bears (292.52 fantasy points)
Sayers played in 14 games (started 12 games) and had 867 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also had 29 receptions for 507 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 53 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown with 1 interception and 1 kick return touchdown along with 1 punt return touchdown. Sayers was the 1965 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Rookie of the Year.
Wide Receiver
Lance Alworth, San Diego Chargers (312.00 fantasy points)
Alworth played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 69 receptions for 1,602 receiving yards (AFL league leader) and 14 receiving touchdowns (AFL league leader). He also had -12 rushing yards. Alworth was the 1965 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Most Valuable Player.
Dave Parks, San Francisco 49ers (286.40 fantasy points)
Parks played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 80 receptions (NFL league leader) for 1,344 receiving yards (NFL league leader) and 12 receiving touchdowns (NFL league leader).
Don Maynard, New York Jets (274.00 fantasy points)
Maynard played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 68 receptions for 1,218 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns (AFL league leader). He also had 2 rushing yards.
