1964 FFE All-Pro Team

Along with naming a Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player winner for each season starting in 1963, I also wanted to recognize the other outstanding players from each individual season. Each All-Pro Team (1st and 2nd Team) will have one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers and one tight end. Here is the 1964 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia All-Pro Team


First Team All-Pro

Quarterback

Babe Parilli, Boston Patriots (299.40 fantasy points)

Parilli played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 3,465 passing yards (AFL league leader) and 31 passing touchdowns (AFL league leader) with 27 interceptions (AFL league leader). He also had 168 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. 

Running Back

Bill Brown, Minnesota Vikings (300.90 fantasy points)

Brown played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 866 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. He also had 48 receptions for 703 receiving yards and 9 receiving touchdowns. 

Jim Taylor, Green Bay Packers (280.30 fantasy points)

Taylor played in 13 games (started 13 games) and had 1,169 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also had 38 receptions for 354 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. 

Wide Receiver

Charlie Hennigan, Houston Oilers (303.60 fantasy points)

Hennigan played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 101 receptions (AFL league leader) for 1,546 receiving yards (AFL league leader) and 8 receiving touchdowns. Hennigan was the 1964 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Player of the Year and the 1964 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Most Valuable Player.

Gino Cappelletti, Boston Patriots (291.20 fantasy points)

Capelletti played in 14 games (started 12 games) and had 49 receptions for 865 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns. He also had 7 rushing yards. Additionally, he had 25 field goals made and 36 extra points along with 1 2-point conversion made.

Lance Alworth, San Diego Chargers (280.06 fantasy points)

Alworth played in 12 games (started 12 games) and had 61 receptions for 1,235 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns (AFL league leader). He also had 60 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Additionally, he had -11 passing yards.

Tight End

Mike Ditka, Chicago Bears (200.70 fantasy points)

Ditka played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 75 receptions for 897 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. He also had 1 fumble return for a touchdown.

Second Team All-Pro

Quarterback

Len Dawson, Kansas City Chiefs (280.22 fantasy points)

Dawson played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 2,879 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns with 18 interceptions. He also had 89 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Running Back

Jim Brown, Cleveland Browns (275.12 fantasy points)

Brown played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 1,446 rushing yards (NFL league leader) and 7 rushing touchdowns. He also had 36 receptions for 340 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 13 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown.

Charley Taylor (Rookie), Washington Redskins (270.06 fantasy points)

Taylor played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 755 rushing and 5 rushing touchdowns. He also had 53 receptions for 814 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, he had 54 passing yards. Taylor was the 1964 Fantasy Football Encyclopedia Rookie of the Year.

Wide Receiver

Art Powell, Oakland Raiders (278.10 fantasy points)

Powell played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 76 receptions for 1,361 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.

Johnny Morris, Chicago Bears (273.00 fantasy points)

Morris played in 14 games (started 14 games) and had 93 receptions (NFL league leader) for 1,200 receiving yards (NFL league leader) and 10 receiving touchdowns (NFL league leader)

Elbert Dubenion, Buffalo Bills (217.90 fantasy points)

Dubenion played in 14 games (started 13 games) and had 42 receptions for 1,139 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. He also had 20 rushing yards. 

Tight End

Pete Retzlaff, Philadelphia Eagles (184.50 fantasy points)

Retzlaff played in 12 games (started 12 games) and had 51 receptions for 855 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns.
